Fiji Geography

The official name of Fiji is the Republic of the Fiji Islands. The country is situated in the South Pacific Ocean, east of Vanuatu, west of Tonga, and south of Tuvalu. The territory of the country is an archipelago with two major islands, Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, with more than eight hundred smaller islands. All in all the country of Fiji is constituted by 332 islands of which only 110 are inhabited. The landscape of Fiji is preferably mountainous with some volcanic areas. The highest point of the country is Tomanivi. The economy of Fiji fully depends on the resources from the forests and the surrounding water bodies. Thanks to its geographical position the country has the tropical marine climate.
